Spinality

An evening about closeness, intimacy, and rediscovering yourself

What an evening and what an amazing turnout!
Daring to talk about closeness and intimacy after a spinal cord injury is not only brave – it’s necessary.

With experience and warmth, Claes guided us through an evening that became proof that when we gather in safety and respect, we can open up to conversations that truly matter.

Claes Hultling

Moderator of the Evening

Claes is a MD PhD and a leading voice in the spinal cord injury community. Since his own accident in 1984, he has passionately advocated for the importance of intimacy sexuality, and the possibility of parenthood after a spinal injury. Highlighting how these aspects of life are vital for being able to enjoy life. Claes was one of the first men to father a child after a complete spinal cord injury.
He has broken new grounds and inspired others through both his work and personal journey.

The event was held at Surr Arena, only 500 metres from the ISCoS/NoSCoS venue at Gothia Towers.

Why now?

In recent years, the topic of intimacy, desire, and connection after spinal cord injury has gained momentum across the Nordic countries. From research projects to artistic expressions, the silence around sexuality and intimacy after trauma is being challenged. This event continues that movement — creating space for honest dialogue, shared experiences, and new perspectives.
